No problem — it is a very worthwhile cause and one that I do think is under-appreciated for how serious it can be and for the simple things that can be done to help prevent it.

Norman is so annoying to me that I was going to cut the list to one — just him. I agree on the fake children’s voices — I think that is what does it in.

I have to agree with you on Norman, My 2-year-old son loves fireman Sam but I can’t stand it. I think it’s the fake children’s voices that make it unbearable, and Norman’s is the most fake and gratingly annoying!

Thanks for letting me know about the hold on cribs. I checked it out and I don’t blame them for pulling them to make sure they comply with the new regulations. I definitely recommend the Mammut series (hopefully they don’t find any issues with it). Don’t get me wrong — bit of a pain to put together and we will look back at the color 30 years from now like we look at the yellows and browns of the 70s, but we like it.

Thanks for this. We’re hoping to get the Mammut crib when they come back in stock (all IKEA cribs are currently unavailable while they relabel, etc. due to the recent changes to crib safety requirements). IKEA corporate wouldn’t give an ETA, but the Conshohocken store said they’re hoping to have them back around October.

My daughter bought two pink mammut cribs for her twin daughters two years ago. Now she is ready to sell them but unfortunately the rails have teeth marks and a few chips. We were going to get paint to fix them and upon closer examination found this is a kind of mac tac material. How the heck do you fix them when you can’t find the material? I emailed Ikea and they were no help at all. It’s too bad as they are great cribs and apart from this are in very good condition. Quite disappointing really as they are not cheap at $300.00 each.
